Bill Dwight Coyle will spend 90 days in the Oklahoma County jail as part of his punishment for embezzling more than $58,000 from St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond.
Coyle, a former business manager at the church, also received a 10-year deferred sentence and 500 hours of community service from District Judge Kenneth C. Watson on Monday.
Coyle, 62, of Edmond, pleaded guilty Friday to eight counts of violating the state's computer crimes act because he used a computer to make unauthorized purchases with a church-issued credit card.
Among the 880 items Coyle bought from the website Amazon with church money were a gun holster, a grenade pouch and a survival guide, records show.
Coyle has paid back $92,600 in restitution, including the cost of a church audit, his attorney said.
The judge gave Coyle the weekend to decide between a deferred sentence with jail time and a five-year suspended sentence without jail time plus 250 hours of community service.
A deferred sentence is not a conviction if the conditions of the sentence are met. A suspended sentence is a conviction.
Coyle has until July 29 to surrender to authorities, his attorney said.
